Life can present challenges that feel overwhelming whether it’s unresolved trauma, navigating a major life transition, or simply needing someone to talk to. I provide a supportive, non-judgmental, and transparent space where you can explore your goals and move toward the changes you want to make for yourself. My approach is grounded in strength-based, solution focused methods, empowering you to be in control of your own path toward healing and growth. I also draw from a variety of approaches and theoretical views, thus providing an integrated approach to counselling.

I have supported individuals facing a wide range of challenges, including childhood abuse and neglect, attachment difficulties, loss, complex relational dynamics, mental health concerns & substance use. I am also specialized as an adoption worker, offering insights and empathic support to those navigating the complexities of adoption.

My practice is about building a supportive partnership where your voice and goals are at the forefront. I understand how overwhelming it can be to take that first step, but by reaching out, you’re choosing to invest in yourself. I invite you to explore what’s possible in a space that honours your experiences and empowers you to grow.

Laura Shearer, Drama Therapist, MA

Laura Shearer-Montreal Integrated Therapy

When you’re feeling overwhelmed and distressed, reaching out for help takes courage. My priority is to make sure you feel understood and supported, creating a warm and trusting relationship that acknowledges your strengths and honors the challenges you've already overcome. Together, we'll work towards your goals in a safe and welcoming space.

I take a collaborative, strengths-based approach that affirms LGBTQ and neurodivergent experiences when working with children and adults. Our sessions will focus on exploring any limiting beliefs, societal messages, or external factors affecting your perspective. We will work together to reconnect you with narratives that bring greater fulfillment, joy, and creativity. I'll support you in building confidence, deepening self-exploration, and identifying beliefs that open up new possibilities. Our collaboration can help you handle stressors more effectively, increase self-esteem, and feel more connected in your daily life. In individual drama therapy, we might engage in activities like storytelling, role-playing, crafts, music, movement, or character creation, allowing you to experiment with new perspectives in a non-judgmental space. There’s no need to be "good at art" or have experience in performing arts—these activities are adaptable to your interests and goals. We'll use imagination and playfulness to explore insights that talking alone may not reveal. Everyone can reconnect with their creativity and benefit from the joy of play!

I also specialize in working with children facing challenging life transitions or struggling with interpersonal relationships, low confidence, or anxiety. For children who need help expressing strong emotions like anger in healthy ways, I provide therapeutic play sessions for ages 3-7, based on Child-Centered Play Therapy. These in-person sessions offer a space where children feel accepted and celebrated, allowing them to explore new ways of understanding themselves and interacting with their environment.

With a deep belief in the therapeutic power of creative expression, I strive to provide a compassionate, non-judgmental space for clients to explore their emotions, build resilience, and work toward healing. My approach is trauma-informed, collaborative, client-centered, emotions and strengths-focused. I believe in the innate wisdom of the body and see creative arts therapy as a process of reconnecting with and listening to that inner wisdom. The arts, in particular, offer a way to express the unspeakable.

I hold a Master’s Degree in Creative Arts Therapies with a specialization in Drama Therapy, as well as a Graduate Certificate in Play Therapy from Concordia University. I am a professional member of the Academy of Naturopaths and Naturotherapists of Canada (ACNN), holding a Naturotherapist Designation (N.D.), and a professional member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), working toward my designation as a Certified Canadian Counselor (CCC).

I have experience supporting adults in areas such as anger management, anxiety, depression, domestic violence, trauma and its aftermath and more. I also have experience with children (ages 2–14) through play and drama therapy, as well as with neurodivergent individuals, and adults with developmental differences.

Drawing from both psychological theory and artistic practice, I integrate various therapeutic modalities to create a safe, supportive environment where clients can express themselves, process difficult emotions, and gain new perspectives.

As a creative arts therapist and certified Canadian counsellor, I listen not only to your words but to the deeper aspects of your experience. My approach is strengths-based, focusing on your unique capabilities while helping you navigate challenges in a way that feels empowering. I offer a judgment-free, curious space where you can simply show up as you are.

With training in drama therapy, therapeutic play, child-parent relationship therapy, relational needs, and motivational interviewing, I use a variety of tools—counselling through words, role exploration, metaphor, storytelling, and movement—to help you connect with your emotions, needs, and behaviours on a deeper level and to support the development of the coping tools.

I have worked with diverse populations, including children, teens, and adults facing developmental trauma, anxiety, domestic violence, anger management, relationship challenges, identity exploration, language barriers, adverse immigration experiences and more. I have also supported individuals with post-stroke aphasia and primary progressive aphasia, along with their caregivers.

I believe in your capacity to make meaningful changes and gain a deeper understanding of yourself. I’m here to help guide that process, providing the support you need to unlock your inner wisdom.

You and your spouse have made the decision to separate and divorce. Now you are thinking to yourself, what do we do next? What is best for us and our family?

First, you are not alone, and the next steps can feel extremely daunting.

For some couples, the process of family mediation is a perfect option. It is the opportunity to sit with an accredited mediator to feel empowered and gain self-confidence in the decision-making process, outside of a court room environment. More importantly, when co-parenting is involved, that your child or children's best interests are preserved. In doing so, it allows an in-depth look at your family's overall needs and enables spouses to choose the best solutions for all family members. When couples come to the negotiation table, the stakes and emotions feel high; however, we must not forget that there is almost always the possibility of joint gain even in difficult situations. I believe there is a way to resolve conflict with compassion!

With over a decade of experience working with and for children and families in Quebec’s Health and Social Service network and youth protection services, my expertise allows me to support and guide you in overcoming this difficult and emotional process. I became an accredited family mediator (with engagements) with the hope of supporting couples through the decision-making process of divorce. My role is to act as an impartial party who facilitates discussions, negotiations and ensures that agreements between both spouses are fair, equal and achieved in a respectful and neutral environment. Depending on your situation, we will establish the modalities of parental time and sharing of parental decision-making responsibilities, determine child support payments and/or spousal payments; as well as proceed with division of your assets.

Together you can!
